Could global gardening fix climate change?

jane2007 submitted, created time 11 months 4 weeks (www.nature.com)

According to a new analysis, using biomass fuel on a massive scale in combination with carbon sequestration could return atmospheric carbon dioxide to pre-industrial levels within decades Peter Read calls his proposal global gardening. Is it will work, I doubt.

I don't think there are enough lands to fulfill the Biomass proposal. However, the idea may be fulfilled in the ocean where room and sunshine is no problem.

davidd, I got your said, what's more, developing bio-fuels maybe a wrong decision according to the carbon cycle....

That's a thought, davidd. I wonder if there is some kind of kelp or other ocean plant that we could farm for biofuel.

I don't konow how can the idea practise?I do not know a marerial which does not emit carbon dioxide when it burns until now.
I think we can only plant many areas of trees to fix climate change.

If desert can be used to plant in large-scale cultivation, it will help our global gardening well. Is it a good idea?

I don't think we should rely on deserts for this. It would probably alter the weather patterns. Remember those aerial photos of Australia's rabbit-proof fence?

Who can tell me what's the decomposition products of biofueland how to make biomass energy with carbon sequestration?

To jane2007,we use switchgrass to produce alcohol---then generate energy.Without contamination, this is a better way to protect our motherearth.
