This is an exciting news!
More hopes and worries follow then, some people praise the research, while some people do not. The research and the news about it have become a big challenge to social and ethical problems.
Still, I believe that scientist will follow the right way in researching the issue.

Culturing the genetically modified cells may be enough. So why do they have to use embryo?

They wanted to see if the gene would be passed on to the daughter cells.

I agree that this is the first step on the road that will lead to the nightmare of designer babies and a new eugenics. Although it have many advantage, it needs to be banned in law compared to the disadvantages.
