A series of monumental volcanic eruptions in India may have killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, not a meteor impact in the Gulf of Mexico. The eruptions, which created the gigantic Deccan Traps lava beds of India, are now the prime suspect in the most famous and persistent paleontological murder mystery, say scientists who have conducted a slew of new investigations honing down eruption timing.

~~ Rich but infertile couples from elsewhere in the world are looking to India for surrogate mothers. Although they pay less than they would in their home countries, the money given to the surrogates, who are usually poor women, is "a small fortune" in India. I was interested to learn that the women do it for the money but also out of sympathy for women who can't perform what they see as a vitally important womanly function. There are far more threads here than I could ever hope to unravel in one post
