A vital molecule for resistance to food allergy has been identified offering a potential target for therapy. There is currently no way to treat food allergy; sufferers must avoid certain foods and keep adrenaline at hand. Scientists led by Dr. Claudio Nicoletti at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich have found a molecule that is absent during allergic responses. He suggests that by delivering allergens with this molecule, allergic reactions could be controlled.
