Rho Kinase Activation and Gene Expression Related to Vascular Remodeling in Normotensive Rats With High Angiotensin I–Converting Enzyme Levels

Reviver submitted, created time 1 year 3 months (hyper.ahajournals.org)

"The RhoA/Rho kinase (ROCK) pathway is a new mechanism of remodeling and vasoconstriction. Few data are available regarding ROCK activation when angiotensin I–converting enzyme is high and blood pressure is normal. We hypothesized that ROCK is activated in the vascular wall in normotensive rats with genetically high angiotensin I–converting enzyme levels, and it causes increased vascular expression of genes promoting vascular remodeling and also oxidative stress."

Targeting thioredoxin reductase is a basis for cancer therapy by arsenic trioxide

bianjie submitted, created time 1 year 5 months (www.pnas.org)

Arsenic trioxide (ATO) is an effective cancer therapeutic drug for acute promyelocytic leukemia and has potential anticancer activity against a wide range of solid tumors. ATO exerts its effect mainly through elevated oxidative stress, but the exact molecular mechanism remains elusive.
