Researchers at the University of Illinois have used an innovative approach to reveal the molecular basis of altruistic behavior in wasps. Their findings appear today online in Science Express.

Although T cell dysfunction and lymphopenia are key features of immunodeficient patients with the Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome and Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome protein (WASP)-deficient mice, T cell development appears relatively normal.
